Electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid options
We’ll surface electric and hybrid vehicles in your initial Search results, if available. You can also filter your Search to show only electric and hybrid vehicles by choosing the “Green Vehicles” filter. If you’re unsure whether a vehicle is electric, check the Car basics section in the listing and look for the “Electric” battery icon.

As for hybrid vehicles, some produce their own power via regenerative braking, while others (PHEVs) plug into charging stations. Ask your host if you have questions about what kind of hybrid a vehicle is.
Charging electric vehicles
Most EVs average between 60-200 miles (96-320 kilometres) on a single charge. Ask your host how to charge their car, how long it takes, and how long the charge will last. Then, plan where and when you’ll stop to charge.
Consider local charging infrastructure when booking your trip, and use this database to find charging stations for your trip. You can charge an EV from a regular outlet (Level 1 charging), or at a charging station (Level 2 or DC fast charging). J1772 is the standard Level 2 plug for most EVs — you can filter searches for a charging station based on this plug type to ensure compatibility.
If you book a Tesla, you can use a Supercharger or Level 2 charging station. For a Level 2 station, you’ll need an adapter — make sure your host shows you where they keep it.
Note: You’re responsible for the cost of EV charging — hosts have up to 72 hours after a trip ends to send you an invoice if you don’t return the car fully charged. Some hosts offer prepaid charging as an Extra.
