Distance included in trip

How much distance is included in my trip?

Some hosts offer unlimited distance for a trip; others set a daily distance limit. When you open a vehicle listing, we’ll show you the total miles or kilometeres you can drive under the heading Distance included. The number displayed there is the total distance you can drive during the trip. For example, if your host’s car has a daily distance limit of 200 mi and you want to book a 3-day trip, the distance included would be 600 mi. If the vehicle comes with unlimited distance, we’ll display a badge on the listing and Distance included will say “Unlimited distance.”

Where can I see how many miles/kilometres I’m allowed to drive?

In addition to showing you a trip’s total distance before you check out (as described above), we’ll also send a trip confirmation email that lists the distance included. You can also see a trip’s total distance by logging onto Resortifi, opening the Trips tab, choosing “Booked,” and opening your trip page to review the details. If you’re using the Resortifi app, we’ll display a reminder of the miles or kilometres included during the check-in process. If you’re checking in and out with the app, you’ll also be prompted to record the odometer reading and the start and end of your trip. Whether you use the app or not, be sure to take pre- and post-trip photos of the odometer and upload them to Trip photos. This ensures your distance traveled is accurately documented.

What happens if I go over the distance limit for my trip?

We display the additional distance fee per mile/kilometre on the trip page before you submit your request. The fee is the result of a simple calculation: trip price divided by trip distance. If you exceed the distance limit for your trip, your host has 72 hours after the trip ends to request reimbursement for additional distance. Be sure you’ve taken and uploaded to Trip photos pictures of the odometer at the start and end of your trip. If your host submits an inaccurate reimbursement request, you can dispute the charge, and we’ll review your photos.

Does my distance limit change if I extend or shorten my trip?

Depending on how much you extend or shorten your trip, the distance limit for your trip could change. For example, let’s say you’re on a 3-day trip in a vehicle that includes 200 mi per day. You extend your trip by 2 days. Your total distance for the trip would increase from 600 mi to 1,000 mi. The distance we display when you extend is the total trip distance and reflects the daily distance limit that was in place when you booked your trip.
