Work with your guest's personal insurer
If you’re resolving damage directly with your guest and they want to use their personal insurance to pay, use these guidelines to help with the process.
File a claim with guest’s personal insurer
Either you or your guest may file a claim with your guest's personal insurer. If you’re filing the claim, ask your guest for the name of their insurance company and policy number. Once you file, you should receive a claim number and the contact information of the adjuster handling the claim.
Have the following information available for the adjuster so they can confirm coverage:
- car sharing agreement
- details of loss (when and how the damage happened)
- police report (if applicable)
- pre-trip photos that show the vehicle’s condition
- post-trip photos of the damage
- damage estimate (if available)
Confirm coverage and payment
If the adjuster confirms coverage, they’ll provide instructions on where to send the damage estimate and outline payment options. They may issue payment to the guest or to you, depending on the insurance company.
If the insurer denies coverage, get payment directly from the guest or escalate to Resortifi.
