Resolve a safety recall

The sooner you act to resolve a vehicle safety recall, the sooner we’ll be able to remove your vehicle restriction and allow guests to book it again..

How to manage a safety recall

  • Start by contacting your local dealership to get your car fixed free of charge
  • After the repair is complete, the dealership will register it with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA)
  • Resortifi’s system monitors the NHTSA database to check vehicle repair status
  • When our system sees that your vehicle's status has been updated, we'll lift the vehicle restriction and notify you

Note: Our system will return vehicle to same listing status it had when we discovered the recall. If we found recall before you finished listing your car, return to the listing flow to complete the process

Tip: If you want to know the status of your vehicle, you can check the NHTSA recall database. How quickly the status is updated depends on how quickly your dealership registers the repair.

My car’s recall status hasn’t been updated. What do I do?

If you have documentation from a dealership that they’ve repaired your vehicle but status hasn’t been updated in the NHTSA database or the Resortifi restriction hasn’t been lifted, you can contact chat with an agent for help. In most cases, they’ll be able to take care of this as long as you have complete documentation. Be ready to submit documentation that shows:

  • Name of dealership
  • Service date
  • Safety recall issue addressed
  • Vehicle’s VIN, make, model

Note: State regulatory requirements prohibit any exceptions to this policy.
