Hosting standards and tips
As a Resortifi host, providing exceptional service is key to your success. Below we provide a set of standards and insightful tips to help you optimize the experience for both you and your guests.
Host standards
Be responsive. Respond to trip requests and changes as soon as you can. Guests count on hearing from you, and quick responses inspire confidence.
Accept trips. Make guests feel welcome by accepting trips whenever you’re available.
Avoid cancellations. Refrain from canceling trips. It can ruin guests’ plans.
Clean and refuel your car. Give yourself enough buffer time to be able to clean the car inside and out as required by our Cleaning policy and provide a full tank or fully charged battery at the start of each trip.
Maintain good ratings. Provide a five-star experience to keep guests coming back. We track host performance and pay special attention to your ratings and reviews. If you fall below our standards, we’ll provide you with a warning and an opportunity to improve. To improve your performance, we recommend following the performance pointers listed below. Consistently falling short of our standards may lead to removal from Resortifi. You can see how you’re doing at any time on your Performance page. Exceptional hosts may qualify for our All-Star Host program. You can participate in a free webinar, available in English and French, to learn how to provide a five-star guest experience and improve your quality metrics.
Performance pointers
Create an attractive listing
Share vehicle details. To create a successful vehicle listing, think like a guest and address all their potential questions. Highlight your vehicle's unique features and let your personality shine through. Visit your vehicle's Details page to add a description, list features, and FAQs.
Upload high-quality photos. To make a good first impression, upload high-quality photos of your listing. Ensure that the pictures are clear and show the exterior and interior of the vehicle from different angles. For more tips, check out our Listing photos guide.
Set competitive prices. Set prices to reflect the changing demand throughout the week and year. You can use Automatic pricing, which adjusts your vehicle's price dynamically to match demand. If you're new, consider lowering your price to attract your first few guests.
Offer discounts. To attract guests booking longer trips, enable early bird, three-day, one-week, two-week, one-month, and two-month discounts to attract guests booking longer trips. You can also send guests a discount code to encourage them to rebook with you.
Give guests what they want
Make your vehicle available often. Get more bookings by making your vehicle available as often as possible, especially on weekends and holidays when demand is high. To avoid missing out on potential guests, ensure your advance notice and trip duration settings as well as your Pickup & Return hours aren’t too restrictive, which can shut you out of guest searches.
Use Book Instantly. All new listings are automatically opted into “Book Instantly.” This feature allows guests to book without waiting for your approval. “Book Instantly” is a big draw for guests and convenient for hosts, as it saves time and effort. However, you’ll need to keep your calendar and settings up to date so you only receive bookings that work well for you.
Offer delivery. Add convenience and make your listing stand out by offering delivery. It’s one big reason guests choose Resortifi over a rental car agency.
Consider offering unlimited mileage. Many guests filter out cars with inadequate mileage limits, so providing unlimited mileage could be a key selling point for your vehicle(s).
Offer Extras. Make trips special and earn more by offering Extras. Consider convenience items such as pre-paid fuel or gear such as car seats, tents, or picnic baskets.
Accept trips and stay committed
Respond quickly and accept trips. To improve your search ranking and attract more guests, respond promptly and accept trips whenever you're available. Opt into push and text notifications to avoid missing out on important messages from your guests. You can also use “Book Instantly” to automatically accept trips that match your availability and preferences.
Download the app and turn on notifications. Manage your trips and listings better by using the app and enabling notifications.
Stay committed. Avoid canceling reservations unless it is an emergency. Cancellations can negatively impact your search ranking and deter future guests from booking. They also show on your listing.
Get trips that are right for you. To make sure you get trips that work for you and avoid having to decline or cancel them, there are three things you should do. First, keep your calendar up to date so that you only get trip requests when your car is actually available. Second, set your Pickup & Return hours so that you get trip requests that start and end when you're available to meet guests. Finally, optimize your trip preferences, such as your advance notice requirements. By doing these three things, you'll be able to get more trips that work for you and provide a better experience for your guests.
Provide five-star experiences
Keep your car well-maintained. Make sure your car is safe to drive by keeping up with maintenance and repairs for optimal performance and appearance.
Communicate proactively. Once a trip is booked, it's important to introduce yourself and coordinate trip details with your guests. If there are any changes to the details, you should inform your guests as soon as possible. To ensure a smooth experience for your guests, make sure to complete the "Welcome Message" and "Car Guide" fields under the "Guest Instructions" settings for your vehicle. These fields give you the opportunity to say "Hello" to guests who you may not meet in person at check-in and to provide them with helpful tips for operating your vehicle. Additionally, remain available to field questions that may come up during your guests' trip.
Make pickup and return clear and simple. Create clear and concise pickup and return instructions for each delivery location in “Guest Instructions” and “Location & Delivery.”
Check your reviews. Regularly check your guest reviews in order to identify areas that need improvement. Take the time to read through them and use the feedback to enhance your service.
